This bearing type has been mounted in vehicles since 2002 and is today used in most brands and sizes of cars and light commercial vehicles. This bearing is fitted on small cars like VW Lupo and up to big vans like the Mercedes Sprinter and VW Crafter. The design of this generation is a double-row angular contact ball bearing. It's called a compact bearing because the bearing and hub are one unit and cannot be disassembled. It means that the bearing is pre-greased and maintenance-free. Generation 2.1 is mounted with a snap ring, and the bearing clearance is predefined. It fits both front and rear axles, driven and non-driven.
